Culture takes on different facets over time and according to the context in which it is structured, generating a plurality of identities. It happens that sometimes culture is reformulated or appropriated, without observing the social, ethnic and political context inserted in it, which makes social cohesion impossible and rivals cultures. In this perspective, this article develops some considerations about the relationship between culture and religion, including the expressiveness of religion through fashion, with an emphasis on the issue of cultural appropriation and recreational racism in Brazil. To do so, we analyzed the media material produced by a contestant of the Miss Brazil Globo 2021 contest, in which Miss Bahia Globo Internacional 2020/2021 uses religious clothing, percussion and artistic movements that refer to religion with an African matrix, questioning whether the practice configures recreational racism. For the elaboration of the article, the deductive method was adopted, with emphasis on the bibliographic survey and analysis of audiovisual content.||A cultura assume diversas facetas no decurso do tempo e de acordo com o contexto em que é estruturada, gerando pluralidade das identidades. Ocorre que, por vezes a cultura é reformulada ou apropriada, sem observância do contexto social, étnico e político nela inserto, o que impossibilita a coesão social e rivaliza culturas. Nesse viés, por meio deste artigo são desenvolvidas algumas considerações acerca da relação entre cultura e religião, inclusive a expressividade da religião por meio da moda, com ênfase na questão da apropriação cultural e racismo recreativo no Brasil. Para tanto, analisado o material midiático produzido por concorrente do concurso Miss Brasil Globo 2021, no qual a Miss Bahia Globo Internacional 2020/2021 utiliza indumentária religiosa, percussão e movimentos artísticos que remetem a religião de matriz africana, questionando-se se a prática configura racismo recreativo. Para elaboração do artigo, foi adotado o método dedutivo, com ênfase no levantamento bibliográfico e análise de conteúdo audiovisual.
