This study has as limits to analyze some representations of Father José de Anchieta performed by the artist Benedito Calixto de Jesus (1853-1927) Methodologically, we selected in the artist's production the main works with the theme of Anchieta, referencing with other productions of the time to subsidize the analysis of the selected work. The result is to contribute to the understanding of the limits between the artistic and historiographical aspects that are poles of strength in the artistic production of the period.||Este estudo tem como limites analisar algumas representações do Padre José de Anchieta executadas pelo artista Benedito Calixto de Jesus (1853-1927) Metodologicamente selecionamos na produção do artista as principais obras com a temática de Anchieta, referenciando com outras produções época para subsidiar a análise da obra selecionada. O resultado é contribuir para a compreensão dos limites entre as vertentes artísticas e historiográficas que são polos de força na produção artística do período
