This essay aims to problematize ways of seeing and framing the black body, based on the work The Woman With Bare Feet (2017), by Scholastique Mukasonga. According to Oyèrónkẹ Oyěwùmí (2021), in Western logic the body is perceived mainly through vision, implementing the differentiation device. Thus, the look becomes an invitation to differentiate. In other words, how many memories were forged about the black population? How many representations were constructed in literature, cinema, history, and the media from the colonizer’s perspective? According to Stuart Hall (2016), things in themselves do not mean, we who construct meanings, using systems of representation. Therefore, the literary work of Rwandan writer Scholastique Mukasonga portrays a new way of seeing the 1994 Civil War in Rwanda. In the book The Woman with Bare Feet, based on the traces of memory, the author reconstructs, deterritorializes and reterritorializes the past, revealing the shadows of the untold story about the genocide in Rwanda.||Este ensaio tem como objetivo problematizar os modos de ver e os enquadramentos sobre o corpo negro, a partir da obra A mulher de Pés descalços (2017), de Scholastique Mukasonga. Segundo Oyèrónkẹ Oyěwùmí (2021), na lógica ocidental o corpo é percebido principalmente pela visão, implementando o dispositivo de diferenciação. Assim, o olhar se torna um convite para diferenciar. Ou seja, quantas memórias foram forjadas sobre a população negra? Quantas representações foram construídas na literatura, no cinema, na história, na mídia partindo do olhar do colonizador? De acordo, com Stuart Hall (2016), as coisas por si só, não significam, nós que construímos sentidos, usando sistemas de representação. Sendo assim, o trabalho literário da escritora ruandesa Scholastique Mukasonga, retrata um novo modo de ver a Guerra Civil de 1994, em Ruanda. No livro A mulher de Pés descalços, a partir dos vestígios da memória, a autora reconstrói, desterritorializa e reterritorializa o passado, dando a ver as sombras da história não contada sobre o genocídio em Ruanda.
