We address the specificities of the work of the men and women street sweepers, self-styled carreiros and vassoureiras, linked to the Department of Public Cleaning of Manaus-AM and who carry out the night sweeping of public places in the Historic Center of the city. This is an empirical, qualitative and descriptive research, carried out through interviews and daily monitoring of the street sweepers during their activities. We identified a clear gender distinction in the category's work environment, related to the division of labor, social rights, labor rights, and symbolism. In addition, there are prejudices and social disparities that result in social invisibility, which can harm work-life balance.||Neste artigo abordamos o trabalho dos garis homens e mulheres,autodenominados carreiros e vassoureiras, que realizam a varrição noturna doslogradouros públicos no Centro Histórico de Manaus - AM. Trata-se de umapesquisa empírica, qualitativa e descritiva, feita por meio de entrevistas comcinco garis durante suas atividades, nos anos de 2021 e 2022. Identificamosuma clara distinção de gênero no ambiente de trabalho da categoria,relacionada à divisão do trabalho, aos direitos sociais, aos direitos trabalhistase ao simbolismo. Além disso, existem preconceitos e disparidades sociais queresultam na invisibilidade social, prejudicando o equilíbrio entre trabalho evida pessoal.
