Based on Audre Lorde’s (2019) statement that the colonizer’s tools will not help us achieveauthentic change, I propose a literary theory based on Sankofa: the adinkra that symbolically and imagically represents a bird that flies forward looking back. When analyzing the theories used for the critical analysis of works by black authorship, I also perceive the presence of the colonial as the center, therefore, I propose a purge of the colonial carry in literary theory (Rufino, 2019). To this end, I dialogue with research and concepts already in vogue such as amefricanidade (González, 2018); oralitura (Martins, 1997); escrevivência (Evaristo, 2007; 2010); with afrorrizoma (Santos; Riso, 2013);with terreiro-literature (Freitas, 2016); with the aesthetics of Orfe(x)u and/or Exunoveau (Pereira,2017); Abébé literature (Sales, 2018; Cordeiro, 2023); or with Afrofuturism (Dery, 1994; Eshun,2015; Nelson, 2020; Womack, 2015). Finally, I conclude the urgency of a blackened literary theory, be it Sankofa or not, but one that erases the past, reevaluates the present and projects black futures.||Partindo da afirmação de Audre Lorde (2019) de que as ferramentas do colonizador não nos auxiliarão a uma mudança autêntica, proponho uma teoria literária a partir de Sankofa: a adinkra que representa simbólico-imageticamente um pássaro que voa para frente olhando para trás. Ao analisar as teorias utilizadas para a análise crítica de obras de autoria negra, percebo, ainda, a presença do colonial como centro, logo, proponho um expurgo do carrego colonial na teoria literária (Rufino, 2019). Para tanto, dialogo com pesquisas e conceitos já em voga como a amefricanidade (González, 2018); a oralitura (Martins, 1997); a escrevivência (Evaristo, 2007; 2010); com o afrorrizoma (Santos; Riso, 2013); com a literatura-terreiro (Freitas, 2016); com a estética de Orfe(x)u e/ou Exunoveau (Pereira, 2017); a literatura abébé (Sales, 2018; Cordeiro, 2023); ou com o afrofuturismo (Dery, 1994; Eshun, 2015; Nelson, 2020; Womack, 2015). Por fim, concluo a urgência de uma teoria literária enegrescida, seja ela Sankofa ou não, mas que rasure o passado, reavalie o presente e projete futuros negros.
