Nas elaborações artísticas de Glauber Rocha, dois casos são notáveis por engendrar o personagem do político: a peça teatral Jango (tragedya em 3 atos), de 1976, e o filme Terra em transe, de 1967. Este artigo investiga, comparativamente, como os personagens Jango, na peça teatral, e Vieira, no filme, figuram na trama narrativa e audiovisual com vistas ao entendimento das relações entre classe dirigente/classe popular no contexto de conflitos da América Latina dos anos de 1960 e 1970.||In Glauber Rocha's artistic elaborations, two cases are notable for engendering the character of the politician: the play Jango (tragedya in 3 acts) (1976) and the film Land in anguish (1967). This article investigates, comparatively, how the characters Jango, in the play, and Vieira, in the movie, figure in the narrative and audiovisual plot to understand the relations between the ruling class/the popular class in the context of conflicts in Latin America in the 1960s and 1970s.
