The science of Law requires consideration and reflection on issues pertaining to human nature, especially with regard to its capacity to be both the subject of rights and duties. This question has been explored by various thinkers since antiquity. In this paper, we present convergent points between the philosophy of Marcus Tullius Cicero and Immanuel Kant on the issue of the dignity of the human person through bibliographic research in the works of both and authoritative commentators on these works, which are not commonly explored together. It resulted that both the Roman and the German - the two banks of the Rhine - have several points of convergence regarding the theme of the dignity of the human person, especially on the rational nature of man, the prominent position of the human being in relation to the rest of nature and the prohibition of instrumentalization of man that derives from these, each with a different rationale, but with the same result.||A ciência do Direito exige o pensamento e reflexão sobre questões relacionadas à natureza humana, especialmente no que tange à sua capacidade de ser sujeito de direitos e obrigações. Esta questão tem sido explorada por pensadores vários desde a antiguidade. Neste trabalho, apresentamos pontos convergentes entre a filosofia de Marco Túlio Cícero e de Immanuel Kant sobre a questão da dignidade da pessoa humana através de pesquisa bibliográfica nas obras de ambos e de comentaristas autorizados sobre estas obras, que não são comumente exploradas em conjunto. Resultou-se que tanto o romano quanto o alemão – as duas margens do Reno – têm vários pontos de convergência no tocante ao tema da dignidade da pessoa humana, especialmente sobre a natureza racional do homem, a posição de destaque do ser humano em relação ao resto da natureza e a vedação à instrumentalização do homem decorrente destas, cada qual com uma fundamentação diferente, mas com o mesmo resultado.
