The main objective of this article is to investigate the performative characteristics of activist actions called runway crashers, in which defenders of a cause, in this case the defense of animal rights, occupy the catwalks during fashion events of great relevance. The scope of the analysis falls on the interventions carried out by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) in September 2023. The theoretical-methodological approach adopted in this study is based on the principles of performance studies. In this way, the article explores not only the nature of the actions, but also examines how such demonstrations influence and contribute to the broader discourse on defending animal rights in the context of the fashion industry.||O objetivo principal deste artigo consiste em investigar as características performáticas das ações ativistas denominadas runway crashers, nas quais defensores de uma causa, nesse caso a defesa dos direitos animais, ocupam as passarelas de desfiles durante eventos de moda de grande relevância. O escopo da análise recai sobre as intervenções realizadas pela PETA (Pessoas pelo Tratamento Ético dos Animais) no mês de setembro de 2023. A abordagem teórico-metodológica adotada neste estudo é fundamentada nos princípios dos estudos da performance. Desta forma, o artigo explora não apenas a natureza das ações, mas também examina como tais manifestações influenciam e contribuem para o discurso mais amplo sobre a defesa dos direitos dos animais no contexto da indústria da moda.
