Flavio Costa was a football player, coach and commentator for broadcast sports coverage in Brazil. This work aims to explore his relationship with the Defense Forces, more specifically the Army. Based on these connections, it is necessary to examine the tensions established within the State and the coach's party affiliation. The study is a part of the research lineage regarding the engagement of people linked to sports in the country and the adherence of sportsmen to military ideals.||Flavio Costa foi jogador de futebol, treinador e comentarista da cobertura esportiva em radiodifusão no Brasil. O propósito deste trabalho é explorar sua relação com as Forças Armadas, mais especificamente o Exército. A partir desses vínculos, é preciso examinar as tensões estabelecidas no interior do Estado e a filiação partidária do técnico. O estudo se insere na linhagem de pesquisas a respeito do engajamento de personalidades ligadas ao esporte no país e da adesão de esportistas a ideários militares.
