The theater for and with babies has been experiencing significant growth internationally. This study, conducted in Portugal, explored the involvement of babies and children up to the age of three in theater, resulting in a new perspective on babies. Supported by an action research approach, the study involved the creation of a theater performance for and with babies and the observation of its reception in childcare centers. The article discusses the role of the actor/performer, focusing on key elements of communication and interaction in theater for and with babies, based on interviews conducted with the actors and the director of the theater company.||O teatro para e com bebés vem revelando um crescimento significativo, internacionalmente. O presente estudo, desenvolvido em Portugal, explorou a participação de bebés e crianças até aos três anos no teatro, resultando numa nova perspetiva de bebé. Sustentado por uma abordagem de investigação-ação, o estudo envolveu a criação de um espetáculo de teatro para e com bebés e a observação da sua receção em creches. O artigo discute o papel do ator/performer, com foco nos elementos-chave da comunicação e da interação do teatro para e com bebés, partindo de entrevistas realizadas aos atores e à encenadora da companhia de teatro.
