Contemporary life is marked by new challenges in the way old age and ageing are perceived, giving rise to various responses in the search for practices that promote well-being and greater involvement of citizens in their communities. In this context, the concept of active and healthy ageing stands out, widely related to social inclusion and solidarity between generations, where education plays an important role. With these assumptions as a backdrop, we will present the ProAlfa Project - Literacy for and by seniors, developed with residents of a residential structure in the municipality of Leiria and senior students from the 60+ Programme at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal. This project took the form of workshops for learning to read and write, using socio-educational animation strategies to promote social interaction. The data collected from direct observation and semi-structured interviews with the participants (senior students from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and AMITEI residents) allows us to conclude that the workshops promoted well-being, autonomy and conviviality among the generations involved, contributing to their ageing process(es).||A contemporaneidade é marcada por novos desafios no modo como se perceciona a velhice e o envelhecimento, originando diversas respostas na procura de práticas promotoras de bem-estar e de um maior envolvimento dos cidadãos nas suas comunidades. Neste quadro, demarca-se o conceito de envelhecimento ativo e saudável, amplamente relacionado com a inclusão social e a solidariedade entre gerações, onde a educação detém um papel importante. Tendo estes pressupostos como pano de fundo, será apresentado o Projeto ProAlfa - Alfabetização de e para seniores, desenvolvido com residentes de uma estrutura residencial do Concelho de Leiria e estudantes seniores do Programa 60+ do Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, Portugal. Este projeto concretizou-se em oficinas de aprendizagem da leitura e da escrita, a partir de estratégias de animação socioeducativa, numa lógica de promoção da interação social. Os dados recolhidos, a partir da observação direta e das entrevistas semiestruturadas dirigidas aos participantes (estudantes seniores do Instituto Politécnico de Leiria e residentes da AMITEI), permitem concluir que as oficinas dinamizadas constituíram momentos de promoção do bem-estar, da autonomia e do convívio entre as gerações envolvidas favorecendo o(s) seu(s) processo(s) de envelhecimento.
