This paper presents an interview carried out with the Brazilian translator Jana Bianchi. In this opportunity, she tells how she began her career in the field of professional translation, but mainly her experience of dealing with the text of the novel Native Tongue, by Suzette Haden Elgin, launched in 1984 and published in 2023 by the publisher Aleph in a first translation into Brazilian Portuguese. Because of its metalinguistic and revolutionary content, belonging to the sci-fi genre, we value the choice of a woman to translate the aforementioned novel. Additionally, Jana Bianchi offers valuable information to whoever wants to start working in the area, revealing the challenges and joys that come with this profession.
||Este artigo apresenta uma entrevista realizada com a tradutora brasileira Jana Bianchi. Nesta oportunidade, ela conta como se deu o início de sua carreira no mundo da tradução profissional, mas principalmente sua experiência de trabalhar com o texto do romance Língua Nativa, de Suzette Haden Elgin, lançado em 1984 e publicado em 2023 pela editora Aleph em primeira tradução para o português brasileiro.
